A scientific and professional conference with international participation, “Veterinary Days“, was held in Split from 7th to 9th November 2025.
At the conference, within the framework of Section 3 “Veterinary Public Health”, on behalf of a group of authors, Prof. Dr. Vladimir Stevanović, member of the CROOH Project Steering Committee, gave a presentation entitled “CROOH Project: Surveillance Results and National Assessment of the One Health Approach for 2024”. Other authors are Andrea Gross-Bošković, PhD, Brigita Hengl, PhD, Jasenka Petrić, PhD, Jelena Prpić, PhD, Prof. Lorena Jemeršić, PhD, Martina Rubin, D V M, Pavle Jelačić, PhD and Relja Beck, PhD.
The presentation provided basic information about the project and highlighted the main goal of the project, which is to monitor nine zoonoses that are of particular interest to the European Union, but also to Croatia. As more than 8,000 results were collected within the first year of monitoring, the results for only one disease are presented in more detail: Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever. This disease was highlighted because, through the detection of antibodies in samples originating from horses and cats, this disease was identified for the first time in the territory of the Republic of Croatia within the framework of this project.
