Working Packages
The project consists of eight (8) work packages (WP) which are listed below:
WP1 – Management and Coordination
WP2 – Integrated surveillance system – Vectors and environment
WP3 – Integrated surveillance system – Farm animals
WP4 – Integrated surveillance system – Wild animals
WP5 – Integrated surveillance system – Small companion animals
WP6 – Sustainability – Nomination of the National One Health group
WP7 – Dissemination – Promotion activities related to education, networking and public awareness
WP8 – Evaluation – Creation of national database
WP1 – Management and Coordination
Within WP1, the implementation of the project coordination and overall project progress will be monitored, as well as the progress of the different project objectives, tasks, particular milestones and deliverables, across all WPs. For this purpose, the Funding and tender (F&T) portal application for Continuous reporting data will be used. In addition, a periodic evaluation of the set goals will be carried out by the work plan specified in the Project Manual. The submission of reports foreseen in the grant agreement is after 18 months and 36 months, i.e. after the completion of the project.
WP1 leader: Brigita Hengl, HAPIH
WP2 – Integrated surveillance system – Vectors and environment
WP2 is the first of four core WPs with focus on the establishment of surveillance on ticks and mosquitoes, vectors of pathogens, surveillance of pathogens in ticks and mosquitos as well as on optimalisation of sampling system for the detection of pathogens in the environment. Sampling of ticks and mosquitoes from the environment and detection of the presence and distribution of Borrelia burgdorferi, TBE virus, CCHF virus, Rift Valley fever virus and West Nile virus will be performed. Environmental samples will be collected and tested on Coxiella burnetii and HEV.
WP2 leader: Relja Beck, CVI
WP3 – Integrated surveillance system – Farm animals
WP3 is second of four core WP’s and with focus on optimisation of sampling modality for farm animals and surveillance of swine influenza in farm pigs, West Nile virus in poultry and horses, TBE in farm animals and milk for human consumption, HEV infection in horses and pig breeding stock, Q-fever in domestic ruminants and horses, Lyme borreliosis in horses, CCHF in farm animals and surveillance and early detection system for RVF in domestic ruminants.
WP3 leader: Lorena Jemeršić, CVI
WP4 – Integrated surveillance system – Wild animals
WP4 is third of four core WP’s with focus on optimisation of sampling modality for wild animals and surveillance of swine influenza in wild boars, West Nile virus in wild birds and wild canids, TBE in wild animals, HEV infection in wild boars, CCHF in wild ruminants as well as surveillance and early detection system for RVF in wild ruminants and detection of the E. granulosus sensu lato in wild canids.
WP4 leader: Jelena Prpić, CVI
WP5 – Small companion animals
WP5 is forth of four core WP’s with focus on optimisation of sampling modality for small companion animals and surveillance of West Nile virus, E. granulosus sensu lato, TBE, HEV infection, Coxiella burnetii, Lyme borreliosis and CCHF in small companion animals.
WP5 leader: Vladimir Stevanović, FVMUZ
WP6 – Sustainability – Nomination of the National One Health group
The multidisciplinary National One Health group will be established within WP6, consisting of experts who have a range of scientific and technical knowledge, skills and experience relevant to One Health. The main purpose of this group is to enhance coordination and collaboration among sectors and Croatian and international stakeholders, and to provide guidance on One Health-related matters that support improved cooperation. Initial task will be deep status analysis regarding zoonosis in Croatia, and development of recommendations for surveillance, control and eradication of all animal diseases which are of special interest to Croatia.
Besides of zoonotic diseases activities performed by this group within this particular project additional activities that are not directly linked to this project, will be further extended to the plant health and environmental health areas to implement a holistic One Health approach in Croatia.
WP6 leader: Martina Rubin, MA
WP7 – Dissemination – Promotion activities related to education, networking and public awareness
This WP will ensure transparent, structured, high-quality and targeted dissemination of the project results. Different communication strategies and materials will be prepared for various dissemination activities, with the focus on continuous exchange of information with target stakeholders and regular updates on project results as well as on raising awareness on importance of One Health approach.
WP7 leader: Jasenka Petrić, HAPIH
WP8 – Evaluation – Creation of national database
Within WP8 new MS SQL Server national database will be developed in order to enable collection, validation and transformation to EFSA Standard Sample Description 2 (SSD2) of national data collected within WP2, WP3, WP4 and WP5, as well as its transmission to EFSA. Evaluation of all project activities will be performed in order to assess the effectiveness of the implementation of tasks across WPs. Additionally, systematic and objective assessment of the relevance, efficiency, effectiveness, impact, economic and financial viability, as well as sustainability of the project will be performed.
WP8 leader: Andrea Gross – Bošković, HAPIH
